Good read. Can never expect to get calls for you, have to play like their all going to go against you. Hopefully they can stop giving up 2-0 leads.

O, and first. Did I do that right?

Bylsma. Is he long for the job?

Do the players like him? Word is they didn't in Pittsburgh. At least the ones that mattered.

My question is why can't they play like they did in the 3rd all game long?

They were being outshot something like 32-10 at one point

This is a good question that needs answering. Inconsistency is the story of the year. No one can say we haven't played some good stretches of dominant hockey...against good teams. The issue is no one can say that we've consistently done so. We come into some days dragging, we finish some games dragging.

Only excuse I formulated was that we're a younger team and can last a bit longer in fast skating games than some of the older teams. (This is a bad excuse for coming out flat)

Exactly which means Bylsma needs to do something to get these guys playing from opening puck drop.

My question is where was the net cam for this goal. Did I miss it in the replay?

Its more likely hes getting them to play more conservative to avoid getting shelled on the scoreboard.

Its riskier to open things up, this way when he loses he loses small or close score wise.

But when you are playing like they did in the 3rd and controlling the play doesn't that seem to be how you want to play?

At one point in the 3rd shots on goal were 10-1 in Buffalo's favor. If you're opening it up and applying all sorts of pressure and not giving up shots isn't that the recipe to winning? I know its not sustainable for an entire 60 minutes 82 game schedule but come on now. It was working the last 3 games why not keep it going right off the bat to see how it goes?

and then the momentum they had gained was sucked out of them by that lengthy review where Lehtonen stood up and the puck was in the net, but was still called no goal.

Took them far too long to figure it out and it killed us in a lot of ways.

Good teams can usually sustain this for a decent chunk of most games, its why they're good after all.

My guess is he doesnt trust this defence...or even the goaltending enough to have them play this sort of hockey from puck drop. It's not right, and id rather lose watching this team play to its strengths then try to win like this but i understand why a coach would try it this way.

Ding ding ding

Bylsma is the issue...

Obviously there are holes on defense but a good offense negates or at least keeps the pressure off a shaky defense.

I don't disagree he's the issue, but I dont think this team would be some world beater if he was gone like a few make it sound. Better coaching would at least make us fun to watch most nights.

I'd like to clarify my position.

I often express my desire to see Bylsma take his bus and leave town...

I think this team would be in a better position in the standings, but I agree that they would not be world beaters at this point.

I don't think this is a contending team by any stretch of the imagination but when you have a team that has come from behind in the 3rd in the last 3 games and won in OT wouldn't you as a coach want to keep the momentum going and come firing out of the gates?

im not really directing at anyone specifically if it seems that way, its the overwhelming opinion of most of twitter, hfboards etc.(even some outside fans) that if this team had a better coach everything would be fixed.

We'd be far more entertaining and perhaps the younger players like bailey would be better off but there'd still be nights where we'd be left scratching our heads. Maybe not like last night but yea.

Imagine the reaction if he tried that and the defence went all swiss cheese? right now we're just upset, if they lost 6-0 what would the reaction be? what if that happened in back to back games?

Again its not what i want to see, but its not my job on the line. I don't care if he gets fired, he probably does though. Explains why hes been playing not to lose for about the last calendar year now.

I mean to be honest...last night...in spite of the rabid bus-parking...we should have won 5-4 or at the very least gone to OT

Both were good goals

I didnt watch so i can't really comment on that but the shot chart i read basically explains we got skull (frank)ed for about 2/3 of that game. Not an encouraging sign.
